Upcoming Actress Bargavi Murdered

UPCOMING TOLLYWOOD actress and familiar face as TV anchor and in serials, actress Kola Bhargavi of Asta Chemma fame was found dead at her residence in Hyderabad on Tuesday under suspicious circumstances. Her body was found along with that of Praveen Kumar, alias Bujji, believed to be her husband/lover. However, her family members residing in Gorantla village of Guntur district denied she had any relationship with Praveen and also ruled out rumours that she was his third wife.

She had returned from her parent’s home on Monday morning and they said that there were no signs of stress on her face.

A suicide note purportedly written by Praveen Kumar was found at the place stating that disturbances in personal life drove them to suicide. Police believe he stabbed her to death before ending his life by consuming cyanide. A blood-stained dagger, some cyanide powder packed in a paper and the suicide note were recovered from the scene.
There were deep knife wounds on her body, one near left shoulder and another on left side of abdomen. The other five wounds were not so deep, police said. The room was not in disarray to indicate a struggle, but the mattress was completely soaked with blood.

According to police officials, circumstantial evidence suggested that Bhargavi resisted the suicide attempt following which an enraged Praveen might have stabbed her to death, according to an officer involved in the investigation.

There was no sign of any injury on Praveen Kumar’s body. A poison bottle was found at the crime scene. A suicide note was found.
Her role in Asta Chemma had the combination of innocence and glamour brought her to prominence recently in Tollywood. She died at a time when many producers were looking to sign her. At present she had agreed to act in ten films, including as solo heroine in three films, as Jr NTR’s sister in one film and in one film under Mohan Babu’s banner.

She became popular with ‘Ammamma.com’ serial in MAA TV. Presently, her film, Holidays is half complete.

The 25-year-old actress was staying in her single-bedroom flat in upmarket Banjara Hills locality, near Indo-American Cancer Hospital. Bhargavi, who hailed from Guntur, started off as a stage singer in Praveen’s orchestra and later became an anchor in a television channel.

When her unit members from under-production Holidays visited her flat to pick her for the shooting on Tuesday, they found her body, along with Praveen Kumar’s. They informed the police.

Praveen Kumar, hails from Nellore district and runs a musical orchestra by name ‘Saibaba Orchestra’ for the last five years. He is popular for musical orchestras in Nellore area. Bhargavi used to work in his orchestra. According to his brother, earlier he had married two girls, Dolly, daughter of a police officer and Swapna, heroine in Lady Bachelors.

The suicide notes say that Bhargavi and Praveen Kumar got married on 2006 and were separated in the past few months. Praveen Kumar also wrote in the letter that she had distanced herself from him after rising to fame with the release of Asta Chemma. He also claimed that Bhargavi’s mother created rift between then after Bhargavi got films on hand. Interestingly, Praveen Kumar had reportedly told his friends last week that he was going to murder somebody.


Bhargavai (of Ashta Chemma fame) committed suicide along with her husband at their residence in Jubilee Hills area in Hyderabad today (Nov 16).

She did work as the second heroine in the recent hit Ashta Chemma directed by Indraganti Mohana Krishna. She also did recognizable roles in Ramgopal Varma presented film Raksha and another film Holidays.

She earned popularity with her role in the daily serial Ammamma dot com. She has also signed for several TV serials, besides taking up anchoring as a career.

Family clashes are said to be the reason behind her untimely demise, according to her near and dear. She hails from Guntur and was married four years ago.

She is also survived by a son. However, based on some bruises on her body, it was alleged that her husband (whom some say as lover) might have murdered her before he himself committing the suicide. The police registered a case and investigation is on.
