Ayan is directed by scenario writer-turn-director K.V. Anand. The music for the Ayan film is by Harris Jayaraj. Harris Jayaraj marks the music for the first time for a film of AVM. In Ayan, Surya plays a type which makes with others the laughter and the film would be a romantic comedy with a good number of action. Tamanna plays a semi-sparkling girl and Prabhu also plays a big role. According to K.V Anand: Ayan means exceptional or excellent.
